LEAVING BROOKLYN, OY VEY!

On December 19, 1903: The Williamsburg Bridge opened as the largest suspension bridge span on Earth at that time. It kept this record until 1924 when Bear Mountain Bridge in upstate New York was completed. Below is a historical film clip of the procession during the opening of the Williamsburg Bridge.



RIP FORMER MAYOR LINDSAY

On December 19, 2000: John Lindsay, the 103rd Mayor of New York City who was in office from 1966 to 1973, passed away in Hilton Head, South Carolina of complications from Parkinson’s disease and pneumonia.
