FAREWELL BIG RIVER

On September 20, 1987: The musical Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Fin closed at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre after 1005 performances and 22 reviews. The musical was one of the most successful Broadway productions of the 1980s.



IT WASN’T A 50/50 CHANCE

On September 20, 1989: US Air flight 5050 suffered damage from the nosewheel tiller due to poor weather conditions and the Boeing 737 ran off the LGA runway into the Bowery Bay. The incident was caused by pilot error.
