ARREST AT THE HOJO

On October 13, 1970: FBI agents found political activist Angela Davis hiding out in a Howard Johnson Motor Lodge in New York City. She fled California after the Marin County Courthouse incident months before in August.

THE WOODEN SOLDIERS MARCHED ON BROADWAY

On October 13, 1903: The original production of the Christmas-themed musical extravaganza, Babes in Toyland, premiered at the Majestic Theatre at Columbus Circle. The operetta was remade into several television specials and films.

 

B’NAI B’RITH

On October 13, 1843: The Jewish organization B’NaiB’Rith was founded on the Lower East Side in New York City. The mission of the group is to unite persons of the Jewish faith and to strengthen Jewish family life. It is it the oldest Jewish service organization in the world.
