TERROR ON TOP OF THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING

On February 23, 1997: Ali Abu Kamal open fired at the top of the Empire State Building. He killed one person and injured six others before shooting himself.  This tragedy lead to increased security measures at this city landmark.

KEEP THE FAITH, BABY

On February 23, 1967: A Congressional panel recommended censure for longtime Harlem Congressman Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Powell had been accused of misusing public funds. A month prior, the House Democratic Caucus stripped him of his committee chairmanship.
