BACK TO USA AFTER 72 DAYS

On January 25, 1890: Nellie Bly, journalist for the New York World, returned home after traveling the world in less than 80 days. She left in November 1889, and it only took her 72 days. What a whirlwind trip.

ON A BOAT…

On January 25, 1986: The USS Intrepid, now home to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, became a National Historic Landmark and was permanently moored at West 46th Street.

BORN ON THIS DAY: ALICIA KEYS

On January 25, 1981: Singer-songwriter and actress Alicia Keys was born Alicia Augello Cook in Hell’s Kitchen.
