On February 14, 1942: Businessman, philanthropist, and former Mayor of NYC Michael Bloomberg was born in Boston. Bloomberg served as mayor from 2002 until 2013. Check out Bloomberg’s appearance on SNL‘s Weekend Update below:



GREAT WHITE WAY AND BEYOND

On February 14, 1899: New York City’s first mayor, Mayor Robert Van Wyck, signed a law that changed the name of Western Boulevard to Broadway. Western Boulevard was previously the extension of Broadway above Columbus Circle.
