On February 19, 1674: The Netherlands and England signed the Treaty of Westminster to end the Third Anglo-Dutch war. During the war, the Dutch briefly occupied New York City and named it New Orange, but after the peace treaty was signed, the city was given to the English and the name was reverted back to New York.
