On April 26, 1977: The famous nightclub Studio 54 opened in New York City. It was called the most famous nightclub of all time with celebrities like Donna Summer, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson, and Woody Allen as Studio 54’s performers and regulars.

THE HOTEL CLOSES

On April 26, 1992: The musical Grand Hotel ended its Tony Award-winning 1,018-performance run at Martin Beck Theater. Uniquely, the original production was played without any intermission. The musical received an impressive twelve Tony Award nominations, one of which was for Jane Krakowski, who was nominated for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical.
