On May 4, 2010: Pablo Picasso’s Nude, Green Leaves and Bust was sold at auction at Christie’s in New York. The painting set a record for the most expensive work of art sold, at a staggering $106 million.

SUNDAY BASEBALL

On May 4, 1919: New York’s first legal Sunday baseball games were played when the New York Giants were defeated by the Phillies. Previous attempts at staging baseball games on Sundays had resulted in fines and arrests for those involved.
