On July 20, 1973: Actor Omar Epps was born in Brooklyn. He made his debut alongside Tupac Shakur in the film Juice and continued his career in a variety of films. He is best known for his role as Dr. Eric Foreman on the Fox television series House, for which he received an NAACP Image Award.


50 CENTS TO SEE A BALL GAME

On July 20th, 1858: The first fee was charged to see a baseball game. Fans paying just $0.50 got to see a 22-18 win for New York against Brooklyn. Today the average price of a ticket to see the Yankees is about $51.

JAY JAY FRENCH

On July 20, 1952: Guitarist, manager, producer, and Brooklyn native Jay Jay French was born. Best-known as the founding member and guitarist for the metal band Twisted Sister, French has played over 9,000 concert performances in 34 countries and sold over 20 million albums. He also completed two New York Marathons.
