MALCOLM X MURDERED

On February 21, 1965: Political activist Malcolm X was assassinated at a rally at the Audobon Ballroom in Harlem, in front of his wife and children. Three members of the Nation of Islam were later convicted for his murder. The image below is of the Audubon Ballroom stage after the murder of Malcolm X.

On February 21, 1925: The New Yorker published its first edition, paving the way for more sophisticated humor in magazines.

BORN ON THIS DAY: DAVID GEFFEN

On February 21, 1943: Record executive and film producer David Geffen was born. Geffen is responsible for creating Asylum Records, Geffen Records, and DGC Records. He also launched Geffen Film, which produced movies such as Little Shop of Horrors and Risky Business. He is also one of the founders of Dreamworks SKG.
