PARADING AROUND MACY’S

On November 27, 1924: The first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was held. Employees of the department store and professional entertainers marched from 145th Street in Harlem to the flagship location on 34th Street dressed in costumes.

ROBIN GIVENS

On November 27, 1964: Actress Robin Givens was born in New York City. Best known for her first role on the ABC sitcom Head of the Class, Givens has since appeared in numerous television series including UPN’s Sparks, Chuck, and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.

 

TRAINS IN MIDTOWN

On November 27, 1910: Pennsylvania Station opened.  Construction of the station and its associated tunnels cost $114 million (approximately $2.7 billion in 2011 dollars). The station currently serves over 600,000 Amtrak commuters each day and is the busiest transportation facility in the United States.
