HIJACKED?

On February 11, 1993: Lufthansa Flight 592 was hijacked by Nebiu Demenke, who ordered the pilot at gunpoint to land at JFK International Airport. After landing, Demenke surrendered peacefully and was later sentenced and charged to 20 years in prison for air piracy.

BORN ON THIS DAY: GERRY GOFFIN

On February 11, 1939: Lyricist Gerry Goffin was born in Brooklyn. Goffin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with his wife and writing partner, Carole King. He is responsible for seven Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers as well as 59 Top 40 hits.
