LADY LIBERTY FINDS PRIME NYC REAL ESTATE

On February 22, 1877: US Congress approved Bedloe’s Island in New York Harbor as the location for the Statue of Liberty’s home. Years later in 1956, the island’s name was officially changed to Liberty Island. Welcome home, Lady Liberty!

A PIECE OF EGYPT IN CENTRAL PARK

On February 22, 1881: Cleopatra’s Needle, the 90-foot ancient obelisk from Egypt, was erected in Central Park, just west of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

BORN ON THIS DAY: ELLEN GREENE

On February 22, 1950: Actress and singer, Ellen Greene was born in Brooklyn. Greene starred as Audrey in the 1986 film version of Little Shop of Horrors and recently starred in ABC’s Pushing Daisies.
