On February 25, 1940: The first ice hockey game was televised in the United States. The Rangers took on the Canadians at Madison Square Garden.

On February 25, 1751: New York City welcomed the first ever performing monkey to the United States. Admission price was a steep one-cent.

BORN ON THIS DAY: ZEPPO MARX

On February 25, 1901: Zeppo Marx, the youngest of the Marx brothers, was born in New York City. Zeppo only appeared in the first five Marx Brothers feature films but went on to have a very successful career as an engineer and theatrical agent. Zeppo is pictured below, second from left:
