THE BATHING BEAUTY BALLET

On October 9, 1947: The Broadway musical High Button Shoes premiered at the New Century Theatre. The musical was about a family’s comedic interactions with two Atlantic City con men and ran for 727 performances. It closed in 1949.


SEAN LENNON

On October 9, 1975: Sean Lennon was born in New York City. He is the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono and has become an accomplished musician in his own right. Lennon was signed to the Beastie Boys’ record label Grand Royal Records and found success with his first album, Into the Sun.

On October 9, 1915: Gil Andersen won the first Astor Cup Race at the Sheepshead Bay Speedway in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Andersen was driving a Stutz vehicle when he won.
