On February 2, 1913: Grand Central Terminal opened to the public. Some 150,000 people visited the stunning Midtown travel hub that day.

PUNK ICON FOUND DEAD

On February 1, 1978: Sid Vicious, bass guitarist and vocalist for the Sex Pistols, died in a West Village apartment. Vicious died in sleep, having overdosed on heroine that his mother had supplied him.

On February 2, 1653: New Amsterdam, which would later be known was New York City, was established. Happy Birthday, Big Apple!
