On June 10, 1959: Former New York Governor Elliot Spitzer was born in Riverdale. In 1992, while serving at the New York County District Attorney’s office, he notably brought down the Gambino crime family’s control over New York’s trucking and garment industries.

On June 10th, 1972: Elvis Presley recorded a live album at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The concert and recording were promoted as being Presley’s first live concert in New York since the 1950s. It was certified gold on August 4 of that year by the RIAA, and went on to attain triple-platinum status on July 15, 1999.

On June 10, 1992: Actress Leelee Sobieski was born in New York City. Sobieski achieved national recognition for her role in the film Deep Impact. Sobieski went on to appear in numerous films, including Never Been KissedEyes Wide ShutHere on EarthThe Glass HouseJoy Ride and the Emmy-nominated TV mini-series Joan of Arc.
