CORNELIUS CRANE “CHEVY” CHASE

On October 8, 1943: Actor Cornelius Crane Chase, also known as Chevy Chase was born in Manhattan. The comedian, writer, and actor has had a legendary career, and was one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live and more recently, has had huge success starring in the comedy television series Community. 


SIGOURNEY WEAVER

On October 8, 1949: Actress Sigourney Weaver was born in New York City. She is known for her portrayal of Ellen Ripley in the Alien film series and for her work in the films Gorilla in the Mist and Working Girl.


ALL THESE SUGAR BABIES!

On October 8, 1979: The Broadway musical Sugar Babies opened at the Mark Hellinger Theatre. The musical starred Mickey Rooney, who was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance along with the other numerous Tony nominations the show received.
