On May 7, 1952: Director Amy Heckerling was born in The Bronx. She directed several popular films and television shows, including Fast Times at Ridgemont High, National Lampoon’s European Vacation, and the classic, Clueless.


On May 7, 1789: One week after being sworn in as the first president of the United States, a grand ball was held in honor of President George Washington in New York City, the young nation’s capital. This would serve as the blueprint for the future tradition of inaugural balls.

On May 7, 1945: Soap opera star Robin Strasser was born in New York City. She is best known for her Daytime Emmy Award-winning performance as Dorian Lord on ABC’s daytime soap opera One Life to Live, a role that spanned more than 30 years.
