On September 21, 1971: Alfonso Ribeiro was born in the Riverdale section of The Bronx. Best known for his role as the lovable Carlton Banks on the long-running television series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Ribeiro also danced in a Pepsi commercial alongside Michael Jackson.


TARAL HICKS

On September 21, 1974: Actress and singer Taral Hicks was born in the Bronx. Hicks made her screen debut in the 1995 A Bronx Tale alongside Robert DeNiro and Chazz Palminteri. She later released an R&B album in1997 through Motown Records.


CHRISTMAS IN SEPTEMBER

On September 21, 1897: The New York Sun ran a famous “Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus” editorial in which Francis Pharcellus Church responded to eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon’s letter asking about Santa’s existence.
