On September 6, 1969: Cabaret closed at the Broadhurst Theater after 1,166 performances. The musical first premiered on Broadway in 1966 and immediately became a huge hit, inspiring and spawning additional productions in London and NYC.

On September 6, 1981: They’re Playing Our Song closed at the Imperial Theatre in New York City after 1,082 performances and 11 reviews. The musical was based on the real-life relationship of composer Marvin Hamlisch and lyricist Carole Bayer Sager.

On September 6, 1964: Rosie Perez was born in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The actress, dancer, choreographer, director, and community activist started her career as a dancer on Soul Train in the late 1980s and later choreographed music videos for the likes of Janet Jackson, LL Cool J, and Bobby Brown.
