The Entertainers Basketball Classic at Rucker Park in Harlem, New York, is a street basketball tournament established in 1983. Originally founded by Greg Marius, a member of the Disco 4; as a basketball contest between his rap groups The Disco 4 and Crash Crew. The two teams decided to organize games and encourage other teams to join. Since then, the EBC at the Rucker has transformed into the “birthplace of street basketball”. Rucker Park has been graced by many of the “Basketball Gods” such as “Dr. J” Julius Erving, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and many more.

The historical significance of Rucker Park is the reason that it’s now in the process of becoming a landmark in New York City. Basketball players from across the world come to show off their streetball prowess amongst the best basketball players that New York City has to offer. This is the place where “if you have game, you earn a name.”

Michael Jordan never played at Rucker park. That’s incorrect. I’ve attended every year since the 80’s
