Where is it? Harlem

What’s it done? Built in 1913, the Apollo Theater is the most famous club associated almost exclusively with African-American performances which rose to prominence during the Harlem Renaissance.

Why is it an icon? The Apollo Theater is a NYC Landmark and is listed on the US National Register of Historical Places. The Apollo Theater Legends Hall of Fame has inducted renowned performers and figures as Ella Fitzgerald, Gladys Knight, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Quincy Jones, and Patti LaBelle.
