As the creator of Fashion Week in New York City, Fern Mallis changed the fashion world forever. The original Bryant Park event, called 7th on Sixth at the time, centralized the runways of American designers putting them in a stronger position to compete globally with design centers like Milan and Paris. Back then, the Brooklyn native was Executive Director of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The extravaganza, which has morphed into Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center, is just one of the many feathers in her cap. Mallis has launched Fashion Week in multiple cities for IMG after the event’s epic success in New York.

New York Natives caught up with the Native Icon to get the skinny on all Mallis’ fashion savvy projects like Fern Finds and her authentic insider lens on the highs and lows for fashion greats like New Yorkers Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, and Tommy Hilfiger.
