Where is he from? Queens

What’s he done? Cuomo is the 56th Governor of New York but previously served from 1997 to 2001 as the US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development as well as from 2007 t0 2010 as the Attorney General of NY. His father, Mario Cuomo, was New York’s 52nd Governor.

Why is he an icon? During his time as governor, Cuomo has passed the Marriage Equality Act, legalizing gay marriage in the state of New York, as well as signing the NY SAFE Act, the new gun control policy, in the aftermath of the Newtown shootings.
