If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, sit down, relax and share a bite with some of New York City’s monks. On October 5, Sons and Daughters NYC will be hosting a little get together called “Mingling with Monks.” This gathering will take place at the restaurant on 10th Avenue from six to nine in the evening. The event is being put on by the Live Greater Foundation and all proceeds will go to their benefit.

Hardcore music fans rejoice! On October 4, right here in Brooklyn, Harley Flanagan, founding member and former bassist of Cro-Mags, will be making an appearance at Powerhouse Books. Flanagan will be signing his recently released memoir, “Hard-Core: Life of My Own,” where he revisits his time as a rockstar in 1970s New York City and discusses his greatest musical influences. As an added treat, Flanagan will put on a live show at the signing–his first performance in 10 years.
