We’re watching…

Hindsight

If the first few notes of “The Sign” by Ace of Base sets you off on a nostalgic, Crystal Pepsi-fueled trip down memory lane, circa 1995, then VH1’s new scripted series Hindsight might be your new Wednesday night routine. Laura Ramsey and Sarah Goldberg are believably charming as best friends, and Hindsight doesn’t overthink the whole time travel thing (looking at you, Interstellar). Fire up your Easy-Bake Oven, pop open a Zima, and soak in all the awesomely cringe-worthy 90’s goodness.

We’re listening to…

“Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding

Sexually-stifled housewives and Ellie Goulding fans alike, rejoice! “Love Me Like You Do” is the latest song to be released from the soundtrack of the upcoming film adaption of 50 Shades of Grey; it’s classic Ellie Goulding and we couldn’t be happier. “Love Me Like You Do” is sultry and catchy, and sure to get many a Stepford soccer mom all hot and bothered — but don’t let that stop you.

We’re watching…

Selma

Sometimes, you just know when you’re seeing a remarkable film — an instant classic that will stand the test of time. The new Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. biopic Selma looks to be one such film. From the remarkable performances turned in by its cast, to the stunning cinematography and screenplay, Selma delivers across the board. But don’t take our word for it — a near perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, an ever-growing list of awards and accolades, and universal acclaim from audiences and critics alike speaks for itself.

I recently took a trip down to TriBeCa to visit the Aire Ancient Baths, a swanky spa where guests can unwind in style. I imagined myself stepping back in time to the ancient dream temples that existed throughout Greece some 4000 years ago — high ceilings, roman columns, pools of various temperatures, and eucalyptus-infused saunas. What I loved most was the tiny ice pool, weighing in at a mere 50 degrees — so cold that there’s literally chunks of ice floating in it. Stay in there for more than 10 seconds and your body no longer feels the cold. Follow that with a trip to the hot pool or the salt-water pool (complete with Dead Sea density and underwater music). I highly recommend checking out Ancient Aire Baths; this magical environment will soften even the most hardened New Yorker.
