We’re wearing…

Christopher Lee Sauve

Influenced by Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, the designs of Christopher Lee Sauvé are irreverent in all the right ways. Following the viral success of his now infamous “SAVE ANNA” t-shirts, “The Reluctant Provocateur” is showing no signs of slowing down. He’s already worn by the likes of Gaga and Miley, and now you can be part of “The Pop Cult Club” and start rocking his tongue-in-cheek fashion, too! As a holiday gift to our viewers, Sauvé is offering 30% off his entire online store with promo code “NEWYORKNATIVES” until the end of the year! Happy shopping!

Matcha T-Shirts

Kale is SO 2014. If you want to jump start a healthier new year, allow us to introduce matcha, the antioxidant-rich tea poised to be one of the top health foods of 2015. It supports metabolism, enhances the skin, boosts energy levels…and best of all, there’s a t-shirt! Downtown NYC-based art and clothing brand Knowlita and matcha lifestyle brand PANATEA have collaborated on some insanely comfortable “MATCHA” tees. Join the movement for a better you (in a comfy “MATCHA” crewneck). Besides, if it’s good enough for Bey, it’s good enough for me(y).

We’re watching…

Top Five

A witty script and a stellar cast that includes Chris Rock, Rosario Dawson, Gabrielle Union, Sherri Shepherd, Tracy Morgan,Whoopi Goldberg, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, and Cedric the Entertainer are just part of the season that Top Five is enjoying so much acclaim, including it’s 89% “Certified Fresh” approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Fortunately for the film (and audiences), this is the smart and hilarious stand-up comedian Chris Rock and not the Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2 Chris Rock. Plus, who isn’t excited to see Tracy Morgan back on his feet?

Staff Pick: I’m eating…

New York Bread, Inc.

Last night, I ate half a loaf of fresh-baked, Eastern European-style, sour rye bread with sweet butter for dinner…perhaps not the smartest choice for someone with a serious gluten sensitivity and a metabolism that appears to be on permanent hiatus. But this bread is so hearty and wholesome and chewy and delicious, that the first toothsome bite turns me into a mindless eating machine, and I say “screw the consequences.” The quality and variety of their loaves, and the reasonable prices, makes  a trip to New York Bread, Inc. in Coney Island so worth the schlep.
