DART MAN GETS POPPED

On July 11th, 1990: The “Dart Man” was arrested for allegedly throwing darts at more than 50 women since June 13th of the same year. He targeted young, light-skinned women in business skirt suits, usually hitting them in the buttocks. The man arrested, 33-year-old Jerome Wright, supposedly struck the women using a blow-gun-like device. The charges against him, however, were eventually dropped to misdemeanors and he was released on bail.

SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS CLOSES ON BROADWAY

On July 11th, 1982: Musical Seven Bride for Seven Brothers, a pioneering take on the Roman legend of the Rape of the Sabine women, closed on Broadway after just five performances. Although adapted from 1954 Oscar-nominated musical film of the same name, the stage version was a flop although it had enjoyed a successful national tour. Despite these setbacks, the adaptation was still nominated for a Tony award for Best Original Score and inspired several, more successful revivals (and one Bollywood movie).
