MUSEUM OF DECORATIVE ARTS OPENED

On October 7, 1976: The Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Decorative Arts and Design opened to the public at its new location: 91st Street and 5th Avenue in Andrew Carnegie’s 1904 mansion, in the area now known as Museum Mile.
