UNSCHEDULED SERVICE CHANGE

On January 1, 1966: A twelve-day New York City transit strike began, called by the Transport Workers Union and Amalgamated Transit Union after the expiration of their contract. The strike led to the passage of the Taylor Law, which redefined the rights and limitations of unions for public employees in New York.

BORN ON THIS DAY: TIM DOG

On January 1, 1967: Rapper Tim Dog was born Timothy Blair in the Bronx. It was reported in February 2013 that Tim Dog had died of complications from diabetes and he is now under investigation for faking his death to avoid charges of grand larceny.
